Private Pilot Licence PPL(A)
What is PPL?
PPL stands for ‘Private Pilots Licence’. With PPL you can act as pilot in command (PIC) in non-commercial operations on aeroplanes. Licence is recognised worldwide and can be ‘built on’ with extra ratings and privileges.
The Private Pilots Licence allows to you to pilot an aircraft during daylight hours in reasonably good weather within the limits of Visual Flight Rules (VFR). To allow you to fly in more challenging conditions, the licence can be upgraded to include the ability to fly in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) and/or at night. Also multi-engine ratings can be added to PPL. Unlike with LAPL, after completion of PPL course and having your licence, you are allowed to carry passengers.

With so called modular route, the PPL is the first step in the path of a professional aviation career.
Theory course
With our training system you start with professionalism! Up to 90 hours out of 100 h mandatory training can be done via web based training. Your study has never been easier! As minimum you will need Ipad (or similar), internet browser and internet connection and your all set!
There are 9 written examinations (CAA/Traficom) to complete which are all multiple choice and require a 75% pass mark:

- Meteorology
- Navigation
- Flight Performance and Planning
- Aircraft General
- Principles of Flight
- Communications
- Operational Procedures
Flight training
PPL training requires a minimum of 45 hours flying time including ten hours solo, ending with a skills test with an examiner where you will need to prove your general handling and navigation skills.
- 45 hours is the EASA minimum hour requirement but you should be aware that more training time may be required to achieve test standard. This is determined by your own abilities. Here´s a brake down of the tuition:
- Minimum 25 hours dual instruction
- Minimum 10 hours supervised solo, including:
- Minimum 5 hours solo navigation including a solo qualifying cross-country flight of at least 150 nautical miles, landing at 2 intermediate airfields.
EASA class 2 medical certificate, must be in possession before first solo flight.
Minimum age 16 before first solo
A class 2 medical is required before flying solo which can be obtained from a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) authorised aero-medical examiner. Most medicals are straightforward and anyone of average health should pass the medical without any difficulties.
